REJECTION IS REDIRECTION

How to deal with rejection when there is a lot of it?

A career in clinical research is a very promising one, but that is when you get in. But as it may be familiar to some of us, there is a lot of rejection in the field. Why is that?

It is a very competitive field. It is filled with qualified professionals and most of them know how to network. Also, if they have worked in the field (like myself), we know exactly what we want, where to find it, and how to look for it. That is not the advantage you yet have if you have not been in the industry. Good news is I can help you with that part. But as much as I can gear you up for your future career, I cannot shield you from rejection. Heck. I can’t even shield myself from rejection. It is a normal part of the job hunting process.

Sometimes I will really have my eye set on a promotion, or a company, or a job title, and it does not always work out as I had planned it. And of course that’s heartbreaking. But one thing I learned that really helps me now is the concept of redirection. If your plans did not work out majority of the time it is because a better fitted opportunity is ahead of you. Keep going. Do not stop. Keep improving your skills, your resume, your networking and you will get it. I promise you, anyone who really wants it always gets in!
